Duel
Duel is a separate game mode in which the player can perform no actions on Territories map and can only fight with enemies «one-to-one», according to tactical combat rules. There are no script line or missions in duel mode; combats are fought by heroes prepared in advance, until victory is achieved (there can be one or more rounds). The only objective of duel is to beat the enemy; please note that victory brings no experience points or resources to the winner. Similarly, the loser doesn't lose anything. There can be no diplomacy or trade between players in Duel mode.

The player can use heroes with preset parameters (including Level, Skills, Specialization, set of Spells and Artifacts), or create his own sets of parameters for them. Creating such sets costs a certain amount of resources. There are 5 resource levels in the game, and before the duel starts the player must choose the level on which the game will take place. In a single-player Duel you will be able to select parameter sets for your own and enemy heroes; you'll also be able to choose a random set of parameters for one or both heroes. In a multiplayer game Duel happens according to the same rules: players agree the resource level and the number of rounds and then choose preset groups of parameters for their heroes.
Creating a set of parameters for a hero
First of all you select the level of resources for creating hero's parameters (values range from 1 to 5), and the race your hero will belong to. Resources will be used as «currency» to «pay» for any object the hero will have. Spells and runes for them can be bought the same way as in shops on Territories map. Artifacts, heroes' skills, levels and specialization all have their prices.

Spells for the Book are bought from the full set available to the selected race. Like in strategic game, the Book contains 15 spells. In addition to spells of I, II and III levels you can take «cantrips» (these come free). The number of available runes for spells depends on «Resources» skill; if the hero has no such skill this number equals 5, like in ordinary strategic game. The number of artifacts you can take with you is unlimited and depends exclusively on the amount of resources you're willing (and able) to pay for them. Acquiring new skills or upgrading existing ones also costs a certain amount of resources.

The created set of hero's parameters can be saved (if you didn't exceed the limits of total resource amount available to you) and used later on in single-player and multiplayer duels.

The first turn belongs to the hero with the higher level. If there will be several rounds, heroes will take turns taking the first turn. There's only one way to interrupt the current duel — surrender to your opponent who automatically wins the round.
